WATER FOR VILLAGES - 2010/2011 Estimated Project Cost: US$ 55,000 Aim: The aim of our "Water for Villages" project is to provide water to three villages in Kavre District. The district lies to the east of Kathmandu towards the border of Tibet. The villages are in the Dhanda ‘Hills’ above the Sun Koshi River. With an average altitude of 1800 meters, there is very limited water supply in the villages. Water is very seasonal and during the months of February to October there is barely any water available and villagers, often the elderly or small children, have to walk a very long way to carry back vital water. Not only is it hard to get water for drinking and cooking, there is no water to grow food and the villagers at these times of year have a very poor non-nutritious diet, causing illness and the poor physical development of children. We plan to install a water pumping and piping system from a nearby water source that will take clean, drinkable water to these villages all year round. |

GOAT FARMING AND TEACHER FUNDING - CURRENT PROJECT 2009 Estimated Project Cost: US$ 2,000 Aim: With 500 students spread over two schools, an upper and a lower, there is a need for more teachers in the village. Currently the schools need an additional 7 teachers to be able to properly manage the number of children attending the schools. The Nepal Government has turned down request for ongoing funding for teachers. We propose to provide a herd of goats for the villagers so that they can set up a sustainable business that can provide funds to pay for teachers salaries. |

MSPN - 2010/2011 PROJECT MSPN is an ongoing project that A Simple Thing is trying to raise awareness about. Currently the centre for treating HIV affected children and parents has no sustainable ongoing funding. Throughout the year we are looking to actively promote MSPNS cause and search for long term sponsors and funding for the project, as well as arranging fundraising trips through out travel operation D’Tours Original. The centre really desperately needs support for the long term to ensure its survival in the future.
